We ASKED- What Curriculum Do You Use?
Alyson said- "History: The Story Of The World and its workbooks. We use Kingfisher Encyclopedia of History or the Usborn Encyclopedia of History for extra information. Math: Saxon, Miquon for grades 1-3, then Saxon 54 and beyond. For Spelling we use Pearson Spelling Workout books. Grammar- Pathway Readers and workbooks from the Amish."
Lyndee said- "I like Easy Grammar, Math U See All About Reading and All About Spelling. These worked great for my daughter who has Autism Spectrum Disorder, Sensor Processing Disorder, ADHD and Dyslexia. I also used Moving beyond the page and really liked it!"
Jana said- "We have five kids, 11-2. We used Latter Day Learning's Family School for Science, Literature, Religion, Geography, Music/Art, and History. We used Saxon Math and Life of Fred for math. We do a neighborhood co-op for PE. We used Shurley English for Grammar and Writing and Spelling Power for spelling."
Kim Said- "For math I always use Saxon. For phonics and spelling through first grade, I use Riggs. I just use the flash cards. For spelling beyond that I use Zaner-Bloser (you can print worksheets off the internet for each unit) and "How to Teach Spelling" for rules. I also use Riggs and Abeka little reader books for teaching to read. For first grade grammar, I use Carson Dellosa "Grammar Rules for Grades 1 & 2". For second and third, I use Building Christian English. For fourth, fifth and sixth grades, I use Abeka "God's Gift of Language" grammar books. In addition to that, starting in first grade, I pick at least one book a month to study as literature. Through grade three, I read the books aloud. We do book reports and book discussion. This is the most fun part of homeschool. I also pick poems to learn and we do it together. We do a writing assignment every day, but these vary between book report, journal, random essay question, etc. As far as science and history and geography go, I don't stress about them too much. I try to teach my children to be interested in everything and how to research topics of interest. "
