Jolene Irving

Jolene began homeschooling one child in 1995, and in 1996 all her children came home to finish their education.

Born and raised in the heart of the Rocky Mountains, Jolene and her husband, Dave, settled to raise their six children in Houston, Texas. All the children are grown, adding 2 daughter-in-laws and 2 son-in-laws and 13 grandchildren several of whom are now homeschooled.  Though Jolene started to homeschool out of necessity, homeschooling quickly became her preferred choice of education.

Jolene knew that if her efforts were going to be successful in homeschooling her children, she wanted and needed the support and association of like-minded people. Filling that desire and need she sought out and found others with the same desires and started organizing.

Jolene is the founder of CTR Beacons of Light from (1996 - 2007),a large and successful Texas support group, and has greatly enjoyed and benefited from her associations with other homeschoolers over the years.

Jolene’s heartfelt desire is to see this special feeling of connection, and sharing of information continue to grow.  She joined forces with other like-minded ladies from around the country to start the National LDS Homeschool Association (2004) – which is now being carried forward by her oldest son, Jacob.

Jolene is now running a Leadership Development program called Flecks of Gold, continuing to provide opportunities for our youth to connect in positive ways that will make a difference in their own lives as well as our future.
